RECENT IMPROVEMENTS AT CIF EPALINGES PDF
Written by Florence MORGENTHALER
Monday, 07 June 2010

coolsnap.pngA new camera (Coolsnap HQ2) is now available on the time-lapse set-up (inverted Axiovision). This camera is a fast, high-resolution camera designed for quantitative fluorescence microscopy applications.

This cooled CCD camera delivers wide dynamic range with very low noise. The pixels can also be easily binned to improve sensitivity and reduce exposure time (a pre-requisite for living samples).

The previous black and white camera (AxioCam MRm) has been transferred to the upright Axiovision set-up. Therefore, this set-up is now equipped with two different cameras: black and white (preferentially used for fluorescent signals), as well as colour (preferentially used for histology). This also means that far red dyes such as CY5 or APC can now be imaged on this set-up (using the black and white camera!).

TIME-LAPSE IMAGING ON EPALINGES CAMPUS: NEW POSSIBILITIES PDF
Written by Florence MORGENTHALER
Tuesday, 02 February 2010

An incubation chamber allowing time-lapse imaging is now ready to use on the inverted Zeiss confocal microscope at CIF Epalinges.

forwebsitenews.pngThe inverted Axiovision timelapse set-up in Epalinges has been upgraded to a 12 multi-well time-lapse set-up.

The main benefit consists in being able to record timelapses in several wells during the same period of time and thus being able to compare different conditions.

For more information on these set-ups (type of support needed, etc.), please ask Florence Morgenthaler (021 693 58 91).

The CIF staff.

Bugnon - Training sessions on the new Zeiss LSM 710 Quasar PDF
Written by Yannick KREMPP
Monday, 25 January 2010

pi_0030-2009.png As some of you have probably noticed it, we have replaced our aging LSM 510 confocal by a brand new LSM 710 fully motorized with all the latest improvements.

Previous LSM 510 users and of course new comers will have to (re-) do a training session to be able to use the system, which is now running under ZEN, Zeiss new imaging software.

To keep this as quick and as simple as possible, I have scheduled training sessions, both on morning (10h00-12h00) and afternoon (14h00-16h00), for the whole week starting on Monday, February the 1st. (take a tour on the booking system to check it.)

This should allow most of the previous 510 users to be able to use the system really fast.

As the room where the new 710 is located is not as big as we would like it to, the sessions are limited to 5 persons, so please send me an email and tell me when you would like to come, maybe with several propositions. Places will be attributed on a first in first served basis.

After this training week I will take a break (and vacations), and as soon as I return we will start over the trainings as usual, on a per request basis.

I'm waiting for your emails,

Yannick KREMPP
